The Filming of Hallmark’s Moriah’s Lighthouse! An Author’s Journey (Part 14)
April 12 Tuesday
Today is our last day on the set. More outdoor scenes. We say good-bye to the friends we’ve made on set. I get to connect for a few more minutes with Agnes before we film a short interview with Luke. As always, he’s as friendly and accommodating as ever. Luke is a genuinely nice, humble guy who seems grateful to get to star in a Hallmark movie.
We have a five-hour drive to Paris where we will spend the night and head back to Ohio tomorrow morning. There is yet one more hurdle, though. We must first fly home and be allowed to enter. This is not an easy thing with Covid spiking again. Even though we are fully vaccinated and boosted, we must have more proof that we are not a danger to anyone. This involves timing things at the airport to be tested yet one more time before we can board. Derek and I are concerned about the realities of one of us testing positive at the last moment. We will have no option except to stay for whatever length of time the French government dictates. It’s a great reprieve when we get proof that we are Covid free.
- (Serena and Derek headed home. A little worse for wear but pleased with all we experienced and the people we met!)
I’m sad to leave, and yet anxious to get home. Home is where my sons, daughters-in-law, and grandkids are. France has been a wonderful experience. The people are lovely and warm, and the countryside and northern coast is amazing. I very much want to go back someday. (Preferably after I learn the language!) But the center of the universe for me is still the tiny town where my family all reside. A brand-new grandbaby is arriving any minute, and I don’t want to miss a moment.

I loved, loved, loved your blog and look forward to reading the book. Hallmark is truly moving forward in the “improvement mode!” The story is just right. Thanks so much for sharing your adventure and photos of the dreamy locations.

Hi Serena,
I thoroughly enjoyed your blog and so happy I came across it when researching the movie!
I’m now anxious to read your books.
My husband and I have been all over France flying into Paris and renting a car to drive through the heart of the country to Provence.
We also flown into Nice, rented a car and back to Provence again. Another time we drove with our dear Italian friend who lives near Milan from the airport there to Normandy for the 75th Anniversary of D-Day in 2019.
Everywhere we traveled the locals were charming and spoke English beautifully.
Now, we are excited to visit all of the locations from the movie, especially the lighthouse!
Thank you for your wonderful blog with all of your behind the scenes insights.
Greetings from Texas!
